Every state except Louisiana.

The law is very complex, and cases/decisions even more complex. I think it would be more helpful to have overviews of decisions, to help guide non-lawyer types.

I'm not suggesting that lawyers are going the way of the horse and buggy. At least I sure hope not, because I love what I do! But as access to information increases, the value of the information will drop. If advocacy is part of your service, then that's a skill set that has value.

Kevin:
I've been hearing this drum beat ever since I passed the bar back in 1988. On some days, I travel to three or even four counties, appearing to represent people in a variety of criminal and family law proceedings. I contend that there is some skill involved in appearing before a tribunal to represent a person's interests. To do it well, you need a thorough knowledge of the law; the kind you can get from Westlaw (if you know how to look it up). Even if you're sitting atop a pile of documents, there is the matter of presentation to the government agency or tribunal. There is the matter of legal persuasion and advocacy. I'd challenge any paralegal to walk in my footsteps for a day.
