What a powerful legacy. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a precious gem whose end came far too soon. He was truly a remarkable person that altered the course of history. He endured physical abuse, jail time and ultimately death in support of his vision: an America where people were judged by the content of their character instead of by the color of their skin. He proved it true that an intimate knowledge of the truth, however simple that truth may be, is the best defense against lies and propaganda.
MLK’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” is one of the most brilliantly crafted letters I’ve ever read. Seriously, it’s as close to perfect as a writer can ever expect. While behind bars, MLK is able to maintain his humility and methodically and graciously addresses the concerns of his opponents. It’s truly a remarkable work of advocacy. In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. day, I’ve provided this letter below. Please download the pdf and take the time to read it. Enjoy and have a great day.
but I intend to get better and I need some help. I understand the social media tools and I appreciate their game-changing importance, but I’ve done a poor job at optimizing their effectiveness. I’m all over the place. Take this blog, for example. I dont’ make any money here, yet I’m driving traffic to it! And The Advocate Group? I’ve received several compliments about it but I feel like I’m selling people short. It’s too static. There’s a lot that I can do better there.
But that was in 2009 and I’m humble enough to admit when I suck. I went out and bought the domain “themlmattorney.com.” It’s “keyword rich” and it’ll help me with SEO. I’m doing a site redesign that’s more reflective of my marketing strategy and is more centered on content. I like what Ryan is doing over at The Startup Lawyer. His homepage is a little bare but in all honesty most visitors never enter from the homepage anyways. Ever hear of a thing called Google? And I’ve learned that anyone can get a hit on a site every now and then. I can capture attention, but it’s random.
Any ideas on how I can increase my brand equity online? More content? Narrow my focus on the content?
Phil: Also, be careful with the testimonials. Make sure you know – start to finish – the FTC’s newest regs. on testimonials, in general. They have made testimonials a bitch to put on a website.
